Midwest Press and Automation LLC is a solutions-based company, established in January of 2010. Although it started as a sales organization, it rapidly evolved into the full sales and service company it is today.

By October of 2012, MPA had outgrown the home offices and was ready for the next step. MPA needed a more suitable working environment which brought them to a 1,000 square ft. office in Grand Ledge, MI, along with two small manufacturing spaces on the north side of Lansing for service needs with a 5 ton and 25-ton crane.

It did not take long for MPA to have another growth spurt and require, yet again, a larger working environment. By October of 2013, the three spaces MPA was occupying were no longer adequate and MPA moved to its current location at 2904 Snow Road Lansing, MI. By renting 15k square ft. of a 54k square ft. building, this allowed MPA’s Sales and Service Department to be combined under one roof, making them a solid and efficient team. This also allowed assembly to take off, complimenting new and used equipment sales.

Business was booming for MPA and the buzz about this growing company spread like wildfire in the world of Industry. Applications began to come in on a steady pace and by June of 2014, MPA had doubled its leasing space and found itself purchasing the building in August of 2014. This acquisition spurred new growth and new avenues to better serve its customers to keep more work in-house.

When one of our key suppliers of machined components started to scale back operations in November of 2014, they instrumentally contributed to our success by helping us acquire equipment and establishing MPA Machining for our growing family. In the Spring of 2015, another key addition to our company joined us and helped us in starting a welding shop. In hindsight, MPA didn’t know what an impact this was going to make, as it complimented our organization.

By January of 2016, MPA expanded again by hiring an Engineering Manager, which opened many new windows to design and redesign. With over 35 highly qualified employees, MPA has become one of the most diversified companies to serve customers today. MPA strives to keep up to date with the ever-improving technologies of the industrial world to keep our customers running in optimal shape. We believe integrity above all things will keep MPA strong for generations to come.

Subsequent years brought further expansion and advancements for MPA. In 2017, they added more CNC equipment to bolster their manufacturing needs. The following year, MPA constructed a state-of-the-art 7,000 square foot front office space, replacing their previous 1,000 square feet office building. In 2019, MPA expanded its reach by acquiring GT production, covering Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

The year 2020 witnessed Nick Martin becoming a part owner of MPA, coinciding with the purchase of another 35,000 square foot facility in Eaton Rapids, MI. This new building was equipped with in-floor heating, air conditioning, and three crane bays.

The years 2021-2022 were marked by several significant changes. Now with a workforce of 70 employees, MPA expanded further by adding an industrial store through eBay. Additionally, they expanded their territory into Indiana and Illinois, establishing sales operations based in Chicago. They acquired a new CNC mill with a 50-ton rotary table measuring 10.5 meters by 4.5 meters. To support this new mill, MPA increased their overhead crane capacity to 60 tons.

For 2023, MPA is taking significant steps to enhance its operations and meet the demands of the press repair industry. One of the key initiatives undertaken by MPA is an improvement in the pay scale for its workforce. By ensuring competitive compensation, MPA is committed to attracting and retaining skilled labor, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.

Recognizing the need for expanded facilities to support its growing needs, MPA is currently in the planning stages for a new building addition spanning 16,000 square feet. This dedicated space will be utilized for small assembly and machining, providing the necessary resources to meet the increasing demands of our customers.

MPA's journey has been characterized by continuous growth, adaptation, and innovation, positioning them as a reliable and forward-thinking company in the press room industry.
